A year later she was cast in her first television role, The Perfect Tribute. In 1992, she got her first role as a supporting character in the movie Basic Instinct. It was the start of her career career. It was in the movie The Firm however that she got the role of leading female character for the first time and that too opposite actors like Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. Through the 1990s, Gwyneth collaborated alongside Hugh Grant on Mickey Blue Eyes as well as Julie Andrews for Relative Values. Recenty, she played Dr Alex Blake (a police procedural-crime drama) in Criminal Minds.
